The first has fallen

Allegra Stratton, the person who had been employed to be the US style press officer for Johnson, to work in the £2,600,000 briefing room, which was never used in anger, has resigned.

The whole idea of a press officer was ditched and Stratton given a new job.

Turns out the viseo that emerged showed her unable to think on her feet and dodge a tricky question, even during a practice.

But she got a new job as an advisor and the room wa skept, unused, except maybe for the party?

So, it is this background, Stratton the wife of one of the Spectator big wigs who Johnson worked with when he was editor.

Was a sordid web.

Johnson has announced an inquiry to the party he was convinced until lunchtime did not happen, but the person appointed was confrmed not to have attended the party, which Johnson still claimed did not happen.

Johnson needed a distraction, so will announce stricter lockdowns at a press conference at tea time today. This is the dead cat, just be tankful the dead kitty wasn't the use of Article 16.

The next few hours will be critical, as to whether his backbenchers will still support him and vote with the Whips directions. Increased restrictions will have to be voted, and although it would pass without the support of the CRG, but politically needing the support of the Opposition to pass legislation would be the end as leader of his party.

From Stratton, there were tears and appologies, as there always are when the guilty are revealed.

60 people attended the party; one down, 59 to go.

Johnson refused to extend the scope of the inquiry to include a party that happened on the evening after Cummings was fired, a party that happened in Johnson's grace and favour flat, that one with the exensive wallpaper.

The stench of corruption is now like that of a thousand rotting corpses. Or the 160,000 Johnson has seen due on his watch.
