Wait and see fail

Johnson claimed there wasn't enough evidence for increasing restrictions, despite being warned of exponential growth of Omicron.

Today there were 106,122 new cases, 15,000 increase on the past few days.

On top of this there is the lack of testing kits, and reluctance of some to have a test to be locked down over Christmas.

It is grim, and will only get worse.

The only three hopes were have now are:

1. That infections peak very soon.
2. That hospitalisations represent a *tiny* fraction of infections.
3. That infections among NHS staff and/or unvaccinated don’t have a catastrophic effect on capacity.

Today, the WHO official who last March advised making decisions quick and without regret offered the opinion that Johnson's course of action had no basis in science.

Well.
