Yesterday, the daily infections were nearly at 80,000, and today it had reached 88,000..

The wave is swamping us, and yet, remember two days ago backbencher Tory MPs refused to back even the most basic of mitigation measures.

People like Steve Baker and Desmond Swayne, having done such a good job on researching global trade for Brexit, now claim to know better than doctors and other experts in the field of pandemic viruses.

The boneheaded attitude will cost untold lives, and further weakens the Government's response to this 5th wave.

Last night, Johnson, called a briefing, but had nothing new to announce, other than to appear statemanlike before today's byelection. He stood beside Chrs Witty, and when asked if people should have parties Johnson said "yes", while Whitty suggested people should only go to events they really have to.

This has lead to many on the Tory loony wing to question "unelected" experts, and it shouldn't be Wngland's Chief Medic Office to have views on public health without clearing it with the PM. Which ponly shows how well planned the speech was yesterday.

The Conservative Party has gone from claiming to "follow the sciene" last March to complaining that the science isn't following policy.

This is not a political party any more, this is the golf club bores given power beyond serving on the refreshment committee.
