Reality is winning

Day by day, hour by hour, the picture for Brexit changes, but yesterday the Government admitted it needed to begin to prepare legislation to allow for EU elections, saying these could be abandoned if the WA or something else (!) is agreed.

So, domestically, things are moving on. The Brexiteers have failed to win approval on multiple occasions in Parliament for a no deal Brexit. The internet doesn't forget and the promises that Vote Leave and leading Brexiteers are still online if you look for them. There is and never has been any kind of mandate for a no deal Brexit, or one that leave us out of the CU.

In terms of preparation, the UK is way behind schedule, the best we have done is convert the main motorway to Europe into a lorry park.

Medicine shortages are already happening, but the NHS and drugs suppliers have signed NDAs, so can't make the issues public, so ministers are allowed to bluster through questions in Westminster make broad general statements. Drugs for conditions like epilepsy are vital to be secured, as even the most minor change in formulation could result in new seizures for sufferers, even death. This is not scaremongering, this is the fact. A senior consultant broke the NDA yesterday and voiced his concerns.

Legally, under international law, the UK will leave the EU in eight days, unless something else happens, no matter how many times MPs vote against no deal, it is the default. Any extension is a gift of the EU and there is no guarantee they would agree to one.

And it would take just one country to say no.

Yesterday (Wednesday) the Commons fast tracked the withdrawal bill through with an amendment that would force the PM to request an extension on April 10th if n deal was still possible. Today, that is going through The Lords and will be law by the weekend or early next week, though because of the speed it has passed, is poorly written. And Brexiteer Lords are trying anything to prevent passing of the bill and might be sitting until 03:30 tomorrow, but at the same time, glad to see someone taking Brexit seriously for once.....
