Sulk

The EU does not sulk. It is an institution.

So spake the EU in response to Sir David Lord Frost's piece in the Torygraph over the weekend.

The UK, and in the shape of the members of Vote Leave and Brexiteers in the Cabinet, the Brexit they wanted.

They just thought it would be consequence free.

I know I am just repeating myself here, but the UK has to start acting like it takes ownership of its actions, not try to blame the other side, in this case the EU, for it agreeing to what the UK wanted.

The situation in NI was totally predictable.

It was predicted.

And was ignored by Johnson. And his Government.

But Brexit and reality are one and the same, and whereas through the negotiations phase, there was an argument for saying something for domestic consumption, but now Brexit has been won, it has been done. Now is the time to make it work.

And they can't.

The latest weeze is the delay the grace period for EU goods until the end of the year, maybe never implementing them fully at all, the checks and paperwork their Brexit required and they demanded, because its all so dfficult and is literally killing businesses.

COVID gives them some cover, but not much, and that is to end, and demand will soar, and there will not be the supplies to meet the demand. Or, maybe there won't be shortages, not huge ones, just things get harder to find, or more expensive. Those with jobs will be OK, but those without, well, they might have sufficient food.

Meanwhile the UK lost 5% of its population last year, to a combination of Brexit, the hostile envronment and COVID. Some people might come back, many might not. These are those who work in care homes, where there are 100,000 vacancies, or in bars and restaurant, or make our morning coffees.

With those lost people, there is less demand for housing, less tax revenue too. A downward spiral.

But look at those passports.
