In a Parliamentary written answer:
pre notification requirements/ export health certificates for animal origin not now required until October
* deferred declaration customs extended Jan 2022
* Safety and Security Declarations Jan 2022
* physical agrioood checks on imports Jan 2022
* live animal checks March 2022
In waiving these, the UK Government has lost any leverage with the EU to do anything similar, and could trigger action under WTO rules under Most Favoured Nation rules.
But hey, blue passports!
I know this has been read three times, but I feel I need to add this: such a move will make EU goods as cheap, if not cheaper than UK goods, while UK goods will not have the same tariff and check free passage into the EU. A real slap in the face to UK manufacturers, exporters and companies.
The UK could have avoided this, by extending the transition, but Johnson refused, insisting the UK left the EU.
And now here we are.
Screwing our own businesses, the ultimate "Fuck Business!".
