Trying to make sense of it all

Currently, it is legal to meet one other person outside your household or support bubble, out of a house, and allowed to sit on a bench together.

That is a relaxation today.

Meanwhile, it is also legal for classes of 30 or children to meet and mix, in a classroom, in a school with teachers.

To me this makes no sense.

I know unlocking has to start somewhere, but all schools starting back on the same day when all are potential carriers of the virus home to to their teachers.

we have just recovered from a ten week lockdown mainly caused because of Johnson's "war for Christmas" which saw infections, hospitalisations and deaths soar, just as Wiitty and other heath officials said would happen.

Today 4,712 people were found positive for the virus. This is a massive reduction from where it has been, but unlocking too quickly risks wiping out the gains and sacrifices we as a nation went through to get here.

Is Dido Harding's track and trace now working? So far it has failed, but she has been given the go ahead to spend another £15 billion on it. From the outside it seems to have spent mostly on consultants at a rate of Seven thousand pounds a day. For this we have total failure.

I have no confidence in this Government getting this right, seeing as they have screwed almost every aspect of the COVID response. The one part which has been a success, the vaccine program, which has been given to the NHS and local autorities to roll out has been stunning. The only part the Government did was to secure a supply of the vaccine.

But they are more than happy to take credit for others work. But not their own failures.

Odd that.

I hope I'm wrong, but let's see if I'm right.

We hope to be going to NZ later this year.....
