Friday 27th December 2019

It is Friday.

Apparently.

The year seems to go on and on, and with us being so task-oriented earlier in the holiday, it means there was very little to do.

Other than eat sausage rolls, cheese and cold cuts. Or warm the cold cuts up and have another Christmas dinner. As you do.

Outside it was another cold and grey day, light so flat it seems that day hasn't quite arrived. So there seemed little incentive to go out snapping anywhere. And the shelves of the pantry are still groaning under the weight of the Brexit store and Crimbo foods, so no need to go shopping either.

Just find ways in which to fill the day.

There is always music to listen to. Photos to edit. Blogs to write. Uckers to play. And The Expanse to watch.

And each of those things we did through the day.

We have fruit for breakfast, and after a morning of being busy doing nothing, I prepare the veg for another Christmas dinner, using slices of cold turkey, warmed in the oven. At least this way, a hearty mean can be prepared and cooked in about an hour.

I do take time out through the day to snap the birds in the back garden, mostly the usual, but a wary Jay came to collect peanuts. So I snap him for the day.

Three hundred and sixty one The roast is ready at one, which we enjoy with another bottle of pink fizz. In fact the pink pizz has been taking a bit of a hammering since we last went to Belgium, we might have to go back again to restock.

We do manage to stay awake in the afternoon, me beating Jools at Uckers, which is the only right result, in fairness. We then sit down to watch episodes from the third series of The Expanse.

As is the modern way, after the first two series being available on Netflix, which we watched over a year ago, the next two are only available on Amazon Prime. But we picked up a DVD of the third series when we were in the US, and so now we sat down to watch it, even if it has been so long since we watched the first two series, we struggled to remember what had happened, but it soon made sense.

Outside another day faded to grey then black. We feast on cold sausage rolls for supper, followed by a generous slice of Christmas cake, and another day comes to an end.
